the Commonwealth of Virginia:
- Must be
at least 16.
- If under
18, must have consent of parents or guardian.
- No waiting
period.
- No blood
test required.
- No physical
required.
- License
is good for 60 days from the date issued.
Who
needs to go to the Clerks Office?
- Both bride
and groom. Both need to fill out a copy of the license
application.

18, parents or guardians.
What
should you bring to the Clerks Office:
- $30 in cash
(checks and credit cards are not accepted).
- $3 if you
would like a copy of the license mailed to you.
- Picture
ID.
- If previously
married, certified divorce decree or death certificate.

Where
do you go:
You can apply
for your license at the circuit court of
the city or county where either the bride or the groom holds
residence. If neither the bride nor the groom is a
residents of Virginia, the license may be obtained in any city
or county. Typically licenses are issued Monday through Friday
from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
